Birch Bay Break In

Be vigilant report suspicious activity

Yesterday afternoon (Monday November 2nd), while driving on Sunset Drive, local Realtor Stephan Trudel noticed that the Cosman cabin had been broken into.  The front door had been kicked in, the interior vandalized, and some property taken.  This disturbing event along with the 2 vehicle break in’s in the Meadows a few weeks ago, the multiple brazen thefts of our mailboxes, and the 2 known attempted B & E’s over the summer all indicate that we need to be proactive with our properties, be extra vigilant in keeping an eye on everyone’s cabins, and report suspicious activity to the RCMP at 911 (if a crime is in progress), or 403-346-1877 (Sylvan Lake detachment)

For years we have lived in a crime free bubble, the last major thefts that I am aware of took place in the late 80’s or early 90’s. There may have been some that I don’t know about, but we were left alone last winter when there were numerous break in’s in communities to the north. The bubble has popped, it’s time for our community to come together like we always do and keep our community safe and fun.
