If you’ve been down to the beach in the last couple of days you may have noticed two of these amber lights, one on the donut, the other on the north marina point. These are the goose deterrent devices the Community Association decided to buy at the AGM.
The devices produce a colour of light that is annoying to the Geese at night causing them to feel insecure and lose sleep, so they move on to another place to sleep. Apparently, if the don’t spend the night near our beach, the geese won’t be around to leave their messes in the morning. The geese experience no pain, so we get the deterrence we want without ill effects for the geese.
